I say this only because I live there...it is The Sierra Nevada ( no S) and it depends on what side you are on California side or Nevada side but there.is still NO "S". Anyway, I have that same booklet it was written the same year my Mom was born. Fun to play with and thank you for sharing.

Genie: It really is a great combination!

Cynthia: I got another great vintage baking book from my Aunt last year for my birthday. I've been meaning to write a post about that one, too!

JEP: Hope you like them!

Corinne: I don't know, Jason managed to eat one ;-)

Katiez: Hahaha...yes, and the photos in these books are always great too. The women always have perfectly manicured long fingernails and perfect hair...neither of which would survive very long in my kitchen!

Lisa: Thanks for letting me know about using the fresh peaches, maybe I'll try it with some fresh peaches next! Glad it worked out for you!

Jason: Yes, these are the same muffins that you tasted. I should make more, I want one too!

Were those the muffins you made that I ate that one day or are they different muffins? If so, I want one.

I wrote earlier about substituting fresh peaches and baking in a pan rather than a muffin tin.

When all was said and done, this recipe was great and has already disappeared from the stovetop.

Cook time in an 8x8" pan was about 45 minutes @ 350 degrees.

I love finding those old cook books. The pearls of wisdom are priceless: "Be certain to freshen your lipstick and remove your apron before welcoming your husband home from a hard day of work" Yeah, right!

Got a batch in the oven right now. I substituted fresh peaches for the dried and am baking it in a 8x8" square pan, lowered oven temp to 350 degrees, since I don't have a big enough muffin pan. I'm sure it's gonna be delicious, cause the raw batter sure is (still licking the bowl). I'll just keep it going till a skewer poked in the middle comes out clean.

Lisa

PS - Is it healthy to eat the whole batch in one night? Tee Hee
