Thank you for the photos – my mother went to school in Catania and used to talk about walking to class with umbrellas because of the ash from Mt. Etna!
Bella! Bella! So nice to see such pretty pictures of a place I have been myself. My wife’s family lives just a few blocks away and also in Mascalucia and Agira up in the mountains. We have visited there twice now and want to get back desperately.

Gorgeous shots! I just bought a Nikon D90 so that I can capture pics like this for our first family trip to Altavilla (Palermo), possibly next year. Can you tell me what lens you used? I am guessing a wide angle, and I bet a tripod was involved too! Thanks for the shots, love the blog!
Aloha from an Italian in Hawaii!! I came to Hawaii in 1968 as my first stop working around the world as a nurse. I never left!! As an Italian American (second generation) I have longed to get to Italy at some point in my life. Thank you so much for these wonderful shots,…..personal shots…although of the quality of travel brochures! I enjoy your blog and hope that someday I will get to your area in person! Wonderful photos. When I was in Sicily a few years ago, visiting relatives, they took me to a wonderful village in an area when artichokes were grown. Even the statue in the town square was of an artichoke. We went to a small restaurant where EVERY course was an artichoke in one form or the other. Sorry to say that I don’t remember the name of the town. Maybe someone here knows of it.

wow….Italy?? I sure can tell you I envy this! I hope to travel to Italy one day and honestly to own a house somewhere in Italy. It’d give me the chance to enjoy a lot of local places to eat. Beautiful and thanks for sharing the photos!
Your pictures left me totally in awe!! I have never been t0 Italy let alone the area in Sicily photographed but I feel as if I have a new depth of appreciation of the area…bottoms up!

Thank you so very much for the photographs of Catania. I had the good fortune to live there for about two years, and the pictures brought back so many wonderful memories… In addition to the history and beauty of the area, my landlord’s wife was kind enough to “adopt” me, and help me learn how to cook “Italian”.
