Artichokes in Niscemi
I just got my first camcorder and had the opportunity to try it out in the town of Niscemi during the Feast of St. Joseph celebration or, La Festa di San Giuseppe, as it’s known here. I’ll have more photos and videos soon but I wanted to share a quick look at the grilled artichokes I got to eat for lunch!
Enjoy!

Nicole, that was awesome. I adore artichokes. You’ve given me the wanderlust, though.
8:33 pm Mar 21st, 2007Great videos, Nicole! I bet the artichokes tasted really good as fresh.
Never had them grilled before. Great to have you back.
4:04 pm Mar 22nd, 2007What a fun new toy. I look forward to seeing more videos from you!
3:13 am Mar 23rd, 2007Nicole, this camera is just wonderful. It has captured a fantastic spirit of place. The Italians have such a passion for their ingredients and dedicate festivals to one particular food, like the artichoke here or to polenta or to porchetta. I wish I was back there.
12:01 pm Mar 25th, 2007Thank you for the trip! It sooths my wanderlust.
10:53 pm Mar 25th, 2007The video was awesome, I am determined to figure out how to post videos on to the blog. Email me if you have any tips!
I could almost smell those cooking!
2:07 am Mar 27th, 2007mmmmm that looked amazing. So fun to see you playing around with new things.
Welcome back!
How great to see such a wonderfully non-fussy cooking method that I’m sure was exquisite. I saw one of the men adding olive oil as the artichokes grilled and another adding… salt? herbs? Any other details you can share, such as approximately how long they might grill them? I’m SO ready to try this at home.
3:53 pm Mar 28th, 2007OMG I want to have those artichokes THAT way with that grill and those people in my back yard. Nice [video] transitions and that woman in black? Dr. Ruth….separated at birth?
