Now that the photo lab has re-opened for summer school, I was finally able to retrieve my final project and final portfolio. I had turned in on the last day of my black and white photography class and since it was (slightly) late, I wasn’t able to take it home with me right away. My final project was about food, of course. Moving back to the United States has been a mixed blessing. I still think about Sicily every day and I miss so much about it. But living overseas wasn’t always easy and wonderful. I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything, but I will say that we endured enough stress and hardship in those four years to last a lifetime. From burglaries to natural disasters to lengthy separations, we did it and we survived. Continue reading →
So, it’s pretty obvious by now that I’ve had a hard time updating Pinch My Salt since our move back to the U.S. Each time I write a post, I think that I’m finally back in the groove. Then a few days pass, a week, a month!? Yikes.

The blogger often shares their thoughts on what was great about the recipe and what could use some improvement. And we often leave a food blog thinking, “Hey, maybe I can do that too!” Continue reading →

Although I haven’t written much about it, my black and white photography class has taken center stage in my life for the past several weeks. At first it was difficult and frustrating moving from digital back to 35mm. But I’ve slowly started to become a darkroom addict! Although I’m only in class for 6 hours per week, I have been spending several extra hours per week in the school’s photography lab trying to learn printing techniques from other teachers and students with more experience.
