The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook

The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook

There are tons of food blogger cookbooks that have been released in the last few years – many of them written by bloggers I know and admire, which is really cool. The few that I actually own are great and I’d love to own every single one someday.  Although a meager budget and lack of space have forced me to cut way back on cookbook purchases lately, I am going to buy this book.

As I was browsing around trying to come up with something to write about today for NaBloPoMo, I noticed that Deb Perelman’s The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook has been released.  I’ve been reading Smitten Kitchen for about as long as I’ve been blogging and when I think back to those early days, it was one of the the blogs that I really connected to from the beginning.  I’ve always loved Deb’s style of writing and have turned to her recipes over and over again.  I also love the name Smitten Kitchen and I think it’s great that her site has never really changed over the years.  It’s simple, easy to navigate, and is filled with great recipes and funny stories.  I have a feeling that the book will have those same qualities and I’m really looking forward to it.  Luckily, my birthday is this month so I have an excuse to get myself a present.

If you’d like to learn a bit more about the book and the author, my friend Genie recently interviewed Deb Perelman over at BlogHer.  Deb also recently introduced the new book on her site along with a delicious looking recipe for Apple Cider Caramels.  And if you’re obsessive about reading reviews like I am, you can see what people are already saying about The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook on Amazon.

So, this isn’t a book review, it’s just me telling you about something I’m excited about.  Are there any great new cookbooks that you’ve purchased lately or anything coming out that you’re especially excited about?

By coincident, I just got Deb's book today... and it's exactly as wonderful as you're hoping it will be!

Rebecca - Great! I just reserved it at our local Barnes & Noble and will probably pick it up tonight.

I can't wait to get this one-- I've been following her blog for a few years, too. She always has amazing photos and recipes. I'm sure the book is great!

I am (im)patiently awaiting the arrival of my copy of The Smitten Kitchen cookbook, it looks fantastic from what I've seen, so I'm pretty psyched. Plus, I love to try and support food bloggers who are making a "go" of it!

SK is one of the food blogs I credit with changing my life. I still remember reading her site, finding recipes that sounded doable, printing them out and putting them in a fancy binder. That's how I learned to cook a few years ago. And learning to cook helped me not only discover a new passion, but to lose over 70lbs! So yeah, I bought her cookbook, and it's as wonderful as her site. PS: I pulled several recipes from this site for my binder too. ;) And I totally agree that it's so refreshing her site hasn't changed. She really "made it" in the food blog world, yet it never changed what recipes her posted, her voice, or anything that made the site special for me. I love that!
