That sign is so funny. Is there a problem with people NOT closing the gate? Or is the sign so Jeff himself doesn't forget to close the gate?

I like the beds a lot! Is that square foot gardening or just sectioned off like that? What a clean, tidy look (compared to my own garden, that meanders down the yard sectioned off by rocks, containers, some in the ground...). Is your Dad for rent?

I'm in awe. I'm so envious. We have a very modest garden compared to your dad's. My hubby loves to experiment on growing new plants. We have a few boxes that we try to rotate every year. We tried Thai bird chiles this year. They are so deadly spicy.

From age 9 through 22, I helped on a farm three miles east of our home. Every gate had a "CLOSE GATE" sign painted or wired to it. Your dad's sign brought a smile with the thought that this was a fellow who knew about the four-legged critters that can mow a garden overnight. The beds remind me of the beds we used on that farm, too. They'd first been put in during the late 1930s and were constantly turned over with compost. We had walkways and thou shalt never ever walk in the plant beds! We pulled carrots out of those beds as long as my forearm. My hat's off to your dad. Yeah, I'm envious, too.

What lovely photos -- I certainly am envious of all of the beautiful, home grown produce -- since my "yard" is 3 window boxes and several container gardens growing on a dock next to my sailboat!!
