A New Toy!

Artichokes in Niscemi

I just got my first camcorder and had the opportunity to try it out in the town of Niscemi during the Feast of St. Joseph celebration or, La Festa di San Giuseppe, as it’s known here. I’ll have more photos and videos soon but I wanted to share a quick look at the grilled artichokes I got to eat for lunch!

Enjoy!

Great videos, Nicole! I bet the artichokes tasted really good as fresh. Never had them grilled before. Great to have you back.

Nicole, this camera is just wonderful. It has captured a fantastic spirit of place. The Italians have such a passion for their ingredients and dedicate festivals to one particular food, like the artichoke here or to polenta or to porchetta. I wish I was back there. :)

How great to see such a wonderfully non-fussy cooking method that I'm sure was exquisite. I saw one of the men adding olive oil as the artichokes grilled and another adding... salt? herbs? Any other details you can share, such as approximately how long they might grill them? I'm SO ready to try this at home.

OMG I want to have those artichokes THAT way with that grill and those people in my back yard. Nice [video] transitions and that woman in black? Dr. Ruth....separated at birth?
