Messy Lemon Bundt Cake Filled with Meyer Lemon Curd

November 11, 2013 by Nicole 12 Comments

Lemon Curd Bundt Cake

Well here it is, proof that some things from my kitchen don’t turn out very well.  I won’t call my fiance’s 40th birthday cake a disaster, because it tasted really good.  But this lopsided, oozing mess of a cake sitting in a giant puddle of glaze isn’t really what I envisioned when I came up with the plan for it earlier today.  Believe it or not, you’re looking at the good side of the cake!

I’ll share all the details about the cake tomorrow in case anyone wants to show me up and make a nicer looking version.  It really does taste good and even this one looked good once it was sliced and plated.

Happy birthday, Phil!

This makes me feel so much better about myself. I was literally throwing reject cookie dough at the walls earlier today.

Brava Nicole, ti seguo nei tuoi vari viaggi culinari e con molto piacere leggo dell'influenza positiva che ha suscitato in tè la Sicilia. Ti aspettiamo ancora. Ciao Giuseppe

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PHILLIP!! Your cake might be just a bit off, but it really does look yummy! Not everything I bake is picture perfect, but the taste is good and that's what counts. You'll be amazed at how many times my smoke alarm goes off! LOL!!

Happy Birthday Phillip! I'm looking forward to the recipe! Sometimes the best tasting foods don't make it out of the kitchen looking magazine perfect! (Ask my cat about the chocolate cake!)

I really appreciate you sharing this! My cakes usually look like that as I am not gifted with cake-assembly skills. It still looks tasty to me!

Oh Nicole, you are a gem. Sometimes I look at blogs who shall remain nameless and wonder why they try to present a life that looks so perfect. I have a love/hate relationship with these blogs. While the beauty and elegance is compelling, I sometimes find them almost sickening. Thank you for being real in this post and on your blog in general. Happy birthday to your beloved.
