National Deviled Egg Day

November 2, 2012 by Nicole 8 Comments

I am usually quite skeptical of all of these National (insert type of unhealthy food here) Days that are being announced with increasing frequency all over Facebook and Twitter.  If you search the internet you’ll find that there is an unofficial American food holiday attached to every single day of the year.

Sometimes it’s fun to play along – who doesn’t like a good excuse to eat pie (January 23 and March 14) or donuts (first Friday of June) or waffles (August 24) or cotton candy (December 7 and July 31).  But as Americans, it seems like we already have plenty of excuses to eat foods that are bad for us.  I know I can always find a justification for eating something terrible.

Chipotle Bacon Deviled Eggs

Today, apparently, is National Deviled Egg Day and that’s a holiday I can totally get behind.  And since it’s a Friday, there’s a built-in excuse to eat even more of this national delicacy.

Here are a couple of great recipes for deviled eggs – one is a no-frills basic recipe and the other is enhanced with chipotle and bacon.  I can’t decide between the two, so I just might make both.  Enjoy!

Hooray for deviled eggs! Looks like I missed the actual day, but I can certainly make up for it! :)

Why am I learning about this now? Deviled eggs might beat out even burgers and fries for dpaul's favorite food.
